Wowzers. Never did I think I would experience anything like this virus scare in my lifetime. This has to be the most trying time for many, as it’s the biggest event since 9/11. The world was completely turned upside down on that September day. And with all the restrictions, closures, and lockdowns, it appears the world is again thrown into chaos. While I’m not the most optimistic person (seriously, ask my husband)… I am looking for the silver lining in all this. The biggest positive I’ve found is that life has finally slowed down for us.
A Slower Pace
For years now, I have been saying “I can’t wait for life to slow down”. The schedules, even as homeschoolers, can get crazy. There were some weeks where we’d be out of the house EVERY SINGLE DAY! While I know some people thrive with those rigorous schedules, I’d much rather stay home. We live out in the country, on a beautiful farm. There’s always lots of work to do but I also enjoy being able to just sit outside, enjoying the country air. There’s nothing better than seeing my kids run around, laugh, and play. So while lockdown wasn’t on my bucket list, it has afforded our family a chance to take a break.

Now, being home does bring its challenges too. Thankfully, the kids haven’t complained about being bored yet. Although I credit that mostly to the fact that an “I’m bored” statement ends up with a household chore being handed out. (I’ve learned a lot through the last 15 years of parenting!) However, along with being on lockdown, I want the kids to have fun. We want to create memories they’ll look back on for years to come. Plus, we don’t want this virus scare to be terrifying and cause undue anxiety in the kids. So our family has turned to board games.
Board Games Are A MUST!
I’m not kidding you when I say we’ve been playing some of the best family board games EVERY SINGLE DAY! It’s rare for a day to pass without at least one game being played. And do you know what? It’s been awesome! The kids have been thriving! So we’re sharing some of the best family board games during lockdown with you as we hope to inspire a little family time in every home!
