My husband and I have been married for a little over 7 years now, and we’ve become quite accustomed to each others habits. So when he says, “Hey babe, I’m going to go out and work on the car for about half an hour,” I know, without a doubt, he’ll be out there all afternoon working on that car. That sweet man can’t seem to wrap his brain around estimating how long things take to save his life. So naturally, when we were discussing putting the playhouse together and he guessed it would take 1/2 an hour to assemble, I laughed. I figured it would take a good 3-4hrs to accomplish.

I thought we should see who was see who was right. (really, I just wanted to give him a big fat “I told you so!”) So, we timed it…

…. Well, it only took us 1hr and 2min to assemble! Turns out I was the one that was way off this time and I sadly did not get a chance to say “I told you so!”.  Assembly most definitely requires two sets of hands and some force. If it weren’t for the one piece pictured above, it probably would have taken us 45 minutes to complete. We spent a good 15 minutes trying to align the pegs and holes into place. It seemed as if they weren’t properly aligned when the product was manufactured, it required a lot of effort and force to attach these two sides. Finally though, we got it together; the other sides however, were not an issue thankfully.

I love that Step2 was extra cautious in the sturdiness of this structure. Notice the metal beam across the flooring of the 2nd level, ensuring extra durability for your little ones playing up there. Also, there are anchors that are hammered into either side of the playhouse into the ground, which keep the playhouse from tipping.

The first level of the playhouse offers many interactive and imaginative features. The kitchenette is adorable, my daughter (5) especially appreciates the colorful decals that make it a little more exciting and playful. The doorbell (which does ring!) on the exterior is a huge hit with all of my kids. My kids spend so much time being creative in there!

The suggested age range for this playhouse is 3-8. If you’re anything like me, those recommendations can be rather arbitrary and are often ignored. But I would have to say, in this case it’s rather spot on. The ladder on the interior is easy to use for those with larger feet…. well, larger than my 1 1/2yo. He likes to think he’s big like his older siblings and will try anything they are doing. So naturally he charged right for the ladder, his little feet kept slipping between the rungs and the wall and getting lodged in there. Not really unsafe, but quite frustrating for someone entering the infamous 2’s.

My 3yo son noticed right away how high up he was and what a great view he had of our neighborhood from the 2nd level. He exclaimed loudly “Wow, I can see for MILES!”. Lately we’ve been enjoying reading through a series called “The Magic Tree House” It’s about a brother and sister who find a magical tree house located in the tallest tree in the woods near their house. From there they are transported to various times and places, all while going on an exciting mission for their new found friend, Morgan le Fay. As you can imagine, the arrival of this play house while reading through these books has been perfect!! They spend so much time up there pretending to be Jack and Annie from the Magic Tree House series and embarking on exciting adventures together.

Again, I would have to strongly recommend following the age recommendation,  especially with the 2nd level. The ladder to the 2nd level is located on the inside of the playhouse, giving it an extra fort-like feel, which is super fun, but it also has a downside. The opening for the ladder leaves what can simply be described as a hole in the floor of the 2nd level. My almost 4yo son had a little too much fun spying on the neighbors while up there and wasn’t watching his footing, causing him to fall through the opening in the floor. He was winded and his pride bruised, but he was fine. I’ve reminded him multiple times to watch out for the opening while up there and to be careful. Because of his age and having had a very hands on reminder, he hasn’t had that issue since. I think most younger children wouldn’t have enough awareness to prevent it from happening multiple times. Step2 advises against building the playhouse on hard surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, packed earth, grass, carpet or any other hard surfaces. Knowing there can be a falling hazard in that one area, I would strongly encourage following their recommendations for building the playhouse on a safe surface. We placed our playhouse on mulch.

The extra-long, 70″ inch slide is a BLAST! It’s not only super long, but quite fast, which is perfect for my big 2! Have you ever noticed how children seem to instantly find a circular pattern in a house and RUN around and around and around that said circle?? It’s a thing — all children love it and my kids seem to do it every day in my house right around 3:30pm, give or take a few minutes. (That’s usually a good sign that the bewitching hour has begun) This playhouse seems to have the same ever popular circular flow to it, which is an awesome solution for the bewitching hour. The kids get sent outside to run off that overflow of energy and I get to witness the same pattern that usually happens inside, happen outside. They run through the playhouse door, up the ladder, go down the slide and REPEAT! (about 50 times) Lord help us all this snowy winter….

Step2’s 2-Story Playhouse and Slide was a huge hit for our family and if you have young children it is bound to be a hit for yours as well. Really the only thing you’ll have to take into account are the ages of your children. Mine are 5 1/2, almost 4, 1 1/2 and 5 months…. It works without any hitches for the big 2, but for #3 we’ve set up a rule where he can only play on the lower level and if he wants to go down the slide we’ll set him up there and hold his hand on the way down. The slide is too fast for him yet, but a perfect speed for the older ones. Thankfully we’ve got some time before it’s an issue with #4! The playhouse is perfect even if you have a small yard; it’s so compact most everyone should be able to accommodate it into your space with ease.  My kids so enjoy the seclusion that comes from the fort-like structure of the 2-Story Playhouse, it’s been a wonderful source of entertainment!

    1. It looks fairly easy to put together. And your chilren look like they are enjoying the 2-story playhouse with slide. My grandkids are looking at the pictures with me. They are hounding me to get it. I know they would enjoy it! But the only chance I have of getting one is thur this sweepstake. It would be a huge blessing to have. I have many of my grandchildren living with me. So I am going to put my name on the list. Good luck to everyone! Merry Christmas!

  1. This was a great comprehensive review I came across while reviewing play structures for our daughter! I appreciated the pictures/ages of the children playing on it so that you could have a good idea of the size and available room while multiple kids are playing!

  2. I love the fact that it is compact and should be able to fit in my small yard. My soon to be
3 year old grandson would love this.

  3. That is one big clubhouse! Loooks like it will last many years for the grandkids! Also looks like ot is a snap to put together! Way to go Step2!

  4. Kids running in circle patterns, it’s a thing, so true! My kids would love to runs circles around this play cottage. Great review, so want one now for the kids.

  5. This looks awesome.Glad to know about the ladder being a bit tough for tiny feet. I wondered about the ladder hole in the floor. Fairly certain my little one would make a game out of falling through, but 100% certain she would love it anyway.

  6. I absolutely Love your review of the the playhouse And showing us a candid view inside your family also! (Lol) i would feel comfortable Attempting to putting this together with my 10 year old And the biggest kid of all too! ?
Awesome in depth review along with showing off the pro’s and con’s!!

  7. Very thourough review. I have 5 children and going on 6 grandchildren i love watching them play outside and thank you Heather because i want this for all of them to play on.

  8. Thank you for pointing out how long it took to assemble, even if you could say “I told you so” to hubby! 😉 It definitely looks as though this playhouse and slide is a good way to get out the pent up afternoon energy that kids need to get out. The bewitching hour circle run is quite accurate!

  9. I love this – my grandson Gabriel and his cousins would have a blast. I know they would spend hours and hours on it, and that it is good for both active and imaginative play is a big ol’ win.

  10. Step2 makes the best products. What a great playhouse perfect to get the kids outside and playing.I love that it seem’s so easy to assemble.Thank you for the review. 🙂

  11. I love that this playhouse is USA made. We have a 4 year old and 2 year old and I love that this playhouse is designed for them to play and use their imagination safely together

  12. I know the grandchildren would spend hours playing in this house! I was surprised how little time it did take you to put together.

  13. Talk about a wow! factor, this is really nice , I love all the details you put into your review on this and all those
wonderful pictures, from start to finish and that video was awesome of the little one enjoying it,, Great review

  14. My kids don’t always like playing outside because there’s only so much dirt digging and nature exploration you can do. I’ve wanted to get them a swing set or playhouse for years, but money. It would be so wonderful to win this!

  15. Now that was such a helpful payhouse review especially the part on how fast your hubby was able to put it together!

  16. An hour for setting up is really not bad at all! I am sure if the one side hadn’t been so hard it would’ve been even quicker. My kids would love something like this for Christmas!

  17. I love how you both worked together to put this playhouse up. Also the fun fact of you timing him. That’s something I would do as my husband likes to start his little projects and will be at it for far longer than he said. The playhouse is definitely cute and I’m sure lots of fun for the kiddos.

  18. I think my boys would love this. I have been looking at Step2’s website lately. Everything has wonderful reviews and the free shipping is awesome!

  19. This looks so cool. I’ve been looking for something similar for the twins for a while now. Especially because we live in the country and don’t have a bunch of other kids to play with.

  20. Love the two story design!! Super fun for climbing!! I also love that it doesn’t take up too much space so is perfect for smaller yards!! The natural look is so pleasing to the eye 🙂 definitely not a yard eye sore!! Yay Step 2!!

  21. I love this! I really appreciate you taking the time to review. I’m happy to see that they did take the extra precaution of making the structure sturdy with the beam and anchors. I was wondering about that myself. I’m surprised they didn’t put a guardrail or something on the top to prevent explorers from falling through. I’m glad yours wasn’t hurt too badly. By the way, that book series sounds awesome. I’m going to have to look into that. What age would you say it’s good for?

  22. Thanks for all the info on this toy! Things to be watchful for, etc. My grandchildren (12 so far) would love this at grandma’s house!

  23. This playhouse looks awesome!!! The other best part, is that it doesn’t look too hard to assemble!!! Would love to be able to let my princess try this out!!!

  24. So cute! That’s good to know about following the age recommendations. Also, thanks for letting us know that the one piece is hard to get put together. If we end up getting this play set, we’ll know it’s normal and not just us! 🙂

  25. What a great Christmas present this would be for my granddaughter!! And in Florida she could be playing with it right away. I know she would love the slide and the playhouse and her mom would love the working doorbell!! Thank you for the review and giveaway!!

  26. This looks so fun! The opening in the second level makes me a little nervous though. My daughter is almost 3 so she would just meet the age recommendation for this spring.

  27. My 2 yo son loves to be outside. He would love this playhouse. He loves to climb and slide! This would be an amazing Christmas or birthday gift since he turns 3 in Feb!!!

  28. How neat, we love things that pull double duty! We’ve also been reading Magic Tree House, I’m sure my daughter and son would have a ton of Jack and Annie play up there!

  29. Thanks for for the review. I especially love what you said about your son saying he “could see for miles”. Our twins love to climb, particularly our girl. I need something like this so she will spend less time climbing the bookshelf. Lol.

  30. Love your thorough review of the playhouse, especially the safety features that Step 2 added to this playhouse. I have 3 small grandsons who would love this playhouse and I would feel more comfortable knowing that the metal beam is in place when all three are at the top of the playhouse at the same time. Lovely playhouse, just out of the reach of my budget right now.

  31. This is the perfect outdoor “toy” for children. It gets them outside away from the electronics, in the fresh air and builds their imagination and role play. abilities. What a nice set – best I have ever seen.

  32. Thank you Heather for a wonderful review! I was surprised that it did not take longer to set up. I would have guessed the same time frame as you! I love all of the descriptions and photos you posted of the playhouse. I believe you covered everything. Your review makes me want to go and purchase one today. What a wonderful playhouse (I want to play in it). Fingers crossed that I may win it. Thank you for taking the time to review!

  33. It didn’t look TOO difficult to put together. It’s not really large either. This could be the perfect play house for us. Not much space to work with but lots of littles needing to get some energy out

  34. Good safety tip to have it on mulch or a softer surface. I like that it is very sturdy and looks like it would provide hours and hours of fun for many ages.

  35. Oh wow what a excellent review I would love to win this for my 3 yr old Granddaughter, she l9oves climing and playing she would love this

  36. beautiful family. Looks like fun for the kids, i have four so i know you are busy . it looks easy to set up. very nice you ladies are giving one away :)’

    Good luck everyone

  37. I love this little playhouse. You said ages were from 3 but I think my two year old son would love it. I really like how they added a little kitchenette to it. I wanted to get him one too but this is like a two-in-one!

  38. You are so right about the circling thing!! My 2 start chasing and running a circle path around our house around 4:00-4:30 when I try to get dinner started. This would be awesome for them!! One is super girly and loves to play house and both really love climbing and sliding!!! I love how long the slide is! We have a smaller slide, but I can tell it doesn’t interest them as much anymore. They love the long slide at the park, so I know they would love it!

  39. Thanks for this honest review. I appreciate you not saying everything was just perfect out of the box & that I should be warned for my 1 1/2 yo.

  40. Heather, this is a great review! Very honest and detailed. I really hope to get a chance to try one out for our 3 year old granddaughter m! It looks like so much fun for kids!

  41. What an awesome review, this looks fantastic! I just know that my son would love this! And it looks sturdy and well built enough to last through the years till his little sibling on the way could get good use out of it as well in a few years. I really hope to get one of these.

  42. My girls are 3 and 4 (soon 4 and 5) and this would be perfect for them since there right in the age range. Also it’s small enough to fit in our apartment patio which I love!

  43. A little over an hour is not bad for assembly. I would’ve guessed a lot longer. I really love this step 2 play structure-one of my favorites from this company. This would make a great birthday gift for my little girl that’s turning 3!

  44. Thank you for your review. My boys would definitely fall through the opening in the fall! I’m glad to know about it ahead of time!

  45. Absolutely love this playhouse with the slide. The colors are awesome and all the items and the places that children and pretend is wonderful

  46. This playhouse is awesome! I love that it works for both genders. The play house looks like it provides an area good for both imagination and physical activity. Love it!

  47. This is fabulous! So many fun little details for the kids and love how it looks relatively easy to set up! Also, I like the durability of their outdoor products and the slide looks like it would provide hours of fun!

  48. Thanks for the very detailed review. Every question or concern I had when I seen the initial picture, you answered with your pictures, video, and detail post from the setup to future use with your 4 month old.

  49. I love that you included the age range in your review. Most reviews I have seen with similar products seem to omit that. I have two boys, ages 4 and 8, who would love this. Your review makes it seem like an awesome product.

  50. Thank you for the review. I am considering this for my daughter and I was nervous about the set up but aside from part you mentioned it seems like it’s fairly easy. I also appreciate the slide because that’s going to be my daughters favorite part!

  51. Looks totally simple for the hubs to put together! I have two little girls and a niece that would appreciate this!!

  52. This is amazing grandson will be two in two weeks e would be so exciting to own such a wonderful and fun item such as this

  53. Love all the personal detail given on the 2-story playhouse. I feel like I know the family. sounds like great fun for the kids! Great info given on safety, preferred age group & difficulty of setup. Excellent review! I would purchase this item after reading this review, although I would love to win for my grandbabies! Sincerely Tammy Fields

  55. this is an amazing review for this playset! I have a hard time deciding on outside play for my kids and this has made this set got to the very top of my list! thanks for the help

  56. wow what an amazing product. I am very impressed with the hour it took to put together. I would have also guessed that it would have taken a few hours.

  57. Thanks for the Wonderful Review on the Step2 2 Story Playhouse! OMG My grandchildren, who live with me are the right age for this! One is 3 and the other will be 5! They, honest to God, have absolutely nothing outside to play with or on (even inside we don’t have anything for them because we can’t afford it). This would be so perfect for them! I know they’d love it! It would be a Godsend if I could win this for them! With the Rafflecopter Giveaways, I haven’t won anything in a long, long time. Thanks for sharing your wonderful review, all the terrific pictures, and your personal and professional opinions on the Step2 Story Playhouse with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it very much! Thanks again oh so much! Michele 🙂

  58. Great review! Thank you for being honest about the assembly and the age range the set works for! I think this may be the playset we go with for Christmas! Sounds perfect!

  59. This looks amazing. I love the 2 story design and the slide looks like a good length. It looks fairly easy to put together like most Step 2 products. We’ve never had any issues. I love how step 2 has made extra precautions to ensure stability. It looks great!

  60. Not only is it adorable, I love the extra safety features that are included – the metal brace for the second floor and the anchors.

  61. The ladder climbing to another level, big slide will be a crowd pleaser here. An informative well reviewed playhouse. thank you

  62. I really enjoyed reading this review. I like that this item is good for the younger toddlers as well as the older children. It can be used for a longer period of time than some of the other climbers.

  63. I have that same husband…. CANNOT estimate time, and things always seem to take a lot longer. This is a pretty neat playhouse, and the fact that it only takes an hour (give or take 🙂 ) is a bonus!

  64. I love that it can be used by all age kids, since I have a 5 1/2 month old and figure he’ll need assistance and lower level restrictions for awhile. But my niece and nephews who are 4,3,2, and 1 would love it too!

  65. Thanks for this review. I don’t like to buy anything unless I read a review on construction and how they are made. My great grand daughter loves to go to the park and slide and climb. She would love this and keep her busy with all that’s in the playhouse.

  66. This is another really nice product from Step2! I like how easy it is to assemble and it’s super cute too. It’d be perfect for my grandson’s age. Thanks for the review. 🙂

  67. Wow – you guys did a great job putting it together…I would have been with you on estimating that it would take longer to set up. Glad to hear the kids love it!

  68. Oh my goodness, I have 6 kids who would LOVE this!!!! I love the design and I know that Step 2 products are high quality. Thanks for the chance to win!

  69. What a wonderful review. You took us each step of the way from set up to fun time to play. I enjoyed seeing all the pictures that related to each step. I think with a little help I could set up a Step 2-2 Story Playhouse. It sounds like so much fun to play in. You answered the questions I had. Great job! We would be the most popular neighbor on the block with the step 2 2 story Playhouse & slide. This is a great giveaway. Thank you for your kindness.

  70. Thank you for reviewing this playhouse. I have been considering purchasing one since I saw it in the Toysrus catalog. The pictures are great, I had envisioned placing the place house on a slab of concrete, but after seeing your pictures and that the house requires stakes for stability I will rethink my placement. I like the idea of creating an area with wood chips to utilize the stakes. I was super excited to see that even your 1.5 yr old and 5 yr old were both enjoying the house. I wanted to purchase something that my 2 yr old son could grow with especially for the price.

  71. I appreciate seeing all the inside pictures. You never really get a good look at most playhouses on the inside. Making sure a play stucture is sturdy and durable is important to me. I also liked seeing the metal support on the floor of the second floor. If I’m going to get a toy I want it to last through all my kids and be safe.

  72. I love the 2 story design with the taller slide! I also love that it’s sturdy enough for older kids to play with the younger ones. I know that my older kids always want to play with the younger toys!

  73. hi, kudos to your handy husband! a job well-done in only one hour. anyone with children and a place to put this Step2 2-story playhouse, would be very blessed to win.

  74. I love that you show how to put this together and I know my nephew and niece would love to own this. I love that it is a 2 story playhouse.

  75. Thank you for this wonderful review. I appreciate that you have included the video as well for more of a hand on experience. This playhouse is perfect.for all the little ones to enjoy together.

  76. I love that this is two stories so the kids can climb and come down the slide. My grandkids would love playing house with this. It looks like so much fun

  77. OMG, my boys 7, 3, and 2 picked this as their big present from the Toys R Us Holiday Book. My hubby asked me to look into it, and I said ok I’ll look later. I found Viva’s giveaway and your review, and have decided one way or another we are getting this for the boys. Thank you so much.

  78. I’m really glad the second level has the metal support beam, and the anchors make me feel better about the risk of it tipping over. I think my kids would have so much fun with this!

  79. This sounds like a great playset for my two youngest grandchildren.Your review is very detailed. I liked what I read about this awesome playset.

  80. Thank you for including a picture of your husband standing next to it for scale. This could also be a fun playhouse indoors if the room had high ceilings!

  81. A few things I love about Step 2 products are that they are durable, and often easy to assemble. It appears that this house is no different, it looks to be made of heavy duty rubber and hopefully can be assembled by any parent. would love the chance to gift this to my two little boys!!!

  82. After reading your post and your excellent pictures, I may need to reconsider my original idea, which was to get this for my basement this winter. Not only would I need someone besides myself to put it together, but it looks much bigger in your photos that on the step 2 website. Thank you for the thorough review!

  83. Thanks for the review! I actually think this would be perfect for us! We have a smaller backyard and it isn’t too big. Perfect for my 2 and 4 yr olds!

  84. Heather I have read a lot of reviews of products over the years but this is by far one of the Best reviews I have ever read. You really put your heart and humor into this! I liked that you really made it personal but also gave great details and pictures. Also adding the kids and your hubby in really was adorable. I really love Step 2 products but you really brought it home girl!! Great Job Thanks for all your hard work dear. 🙂

  85. I love that you really detailed the age suggestion for the playhouse. I have a precocious 2 year old and I’m never sure when toys fit her ability level. If we had the money I would love to purchase one, it’s a nice in between item: more than a little house and less expensive than a full blown swing set.

  86. The style of house is so cute and the 2-story slide is so cool. We’re moving and our yard is a majorly downsized, this seems like it would be a great fit!

  87. I always question the stability of these things, with kids rough housing around them. But at 200 lbs it would be VERY sturdy! Love the longer slide length, so many are just too “toddlerish” . They keep coming up with new and better plans…love this one! 2 for one really!

  88. This looks so wonderful, I love your putting together of it all pics, and just how much fun the kids are having! Thanks for SHARING!! <3

  89. Thanks for this review! Especially the honest bit about the one area not aligning very well. Even with that, I can see I’d definitely love to have this for my almost 3 year old. He’s one adventurous climber, and I don’t think I’d even have to worry about him on that second story hole. I’ve been wanting a play house for him for a while, but can never seem to convince myself that one is worth the price, not knowing how much use he’d REALLY get out of it. Your review definitely helped me see that this is a great option! With our second crazy boy on the way, it’s good to know the quality of something, so I know it will last through the years for both my sons. 🙂

  90. I am looking to purchase this playhouse or similar for my kiddos and sturdiness is a biv factor in my decision making. Glad it’s safe and made well. Heathers kids seem to enjoy it so mine will too. I love the slide feature too!!

  91. I remember growing up playing outside on things like this. All the imagination was wonderful. My mother was a daycare provider. I want my child to have the same fun my sister and I did 🙂

  92. Great thorough review. Love you explained the recommended age range for this. My daughter will be 3 in February so I think this would be perfect for her birthday!

  93. Love the quick assembly time, my little guy would love this. Every time we drive by the park he wants to stop. It would be great to bring the park into my backyard.

  94. Having read your review I can’t tell you how badly I want this! I thought it was cool when I first saw it but now I really want it for my daughter!

  95. Thank you for posting pictures of it being assembled!! This is the first blog where I’ve seen almost every step as to getting it from the box to built. I’m so glad that your kids had fun with it, it looked like they were super excited!

  96. Im so glad to know my husbands not the only one who losses track of time lol. I am so glad that you covered the slide is fast! My daughter loves to go FAST on her way down she gets very disappointed when she doesn’t “fly off”.

  97. This would be perfect for my sons birthday right after Christmas! So cute and him, his brother and cousins would have so much fun playing with this.

  98. i’d never seen this paticular one before, it’s a great cross between a playhouse and a playground wiht the slide. Kids will love the second story.

  99. Well,I wish it came in my size! lol….. My grand kids would love this and I would enjoy watching them play in such a nice play house.

  100. I always love your detailed reviews – the photos and telling us how long it took and any issues you had is so helpful when choosing products! This looks like so much fun and something we could easily put together – love the extra sturdiness and support Step 2 added for this one.

  101. This is the only thing I will be searching for a deal on for Black Friday. This is perfect for my twins! We need an outdoor play structure. So excited!

  102. Thanks Heather for a very thorough review of this playhouse. My 5 year old has been asking for one for Christmas and I had seen this Step 2 model advertised. I worried that he would be too big for it, but according to this he fits the age recommendations! My husband will be happy to know that setup isnt a huge pain! Thanks so much for sharing this! This playhouse may be a contender if our budget permits.

  103. Great review! My 1.5 year old would surely do the same as yours! ? I love that he could still play in the house while big brother charged up to the top! My boys would love this!

  104. Our grands would LOVE this when they visit Mimi & Pops. I’m excited because the set up doesn’t seem to be as daunting as I thought. Definitely something hubby & I could do. So excited about the giveaway after reading your review. Thanks.

  105. I love the durability of step 2 products and would love to have this for my little ones to burn off energy out in the yard!

  106. This playhouse is amazing. Especially my son loves to climb so the ladder would be great and it will definitely tire him out which is the goal all the time for me.

  107. I appreciate the photos on your review because it gives you a idea of scale of playhouse. My grandkids need a place that they can play and get away from the grownups. I imagine many happy hours being played outside.

  108. This playhouse looks like so much fun! I really like some of these that have the extra slide, lookout, etc. instead of just the house.

  109. Lucky for ya’ll it didn’t take that long to put together I can already for see me and the hubby trying to put this together it taking what your estimated time was in the beginning. He would claim he didn’t need my help then it would go to OK just sit and observe (while I’m reading the instructions and him saying he doesn’t need instructions) to him needing me to read the instructions to finally asking me to help him. I swear it takes us longer to do anything because his manliness get in the way.

  110. I love this playhouse! We have a “big kids” swing set but I like the idea of something smaller for my youngest that the older one can still explore.

  111. What a great review of this product. I’ll be defiantly looking into this model for my just turned 4 and 2 yr olds.

  112. Really enjoyed reading about all the safety features! Love companies that take into consideration not only aesthetics of their product, but go above and beyond to ensure quality and safety! It feels great to see something my child would love and be comfortable knowing they will be alright! 🙂 Would love to have this for my son and niece!

  113. I hate line up peds with the holes in the toys to put together, but this sounds a lot easier than some my great granddaughter would love husband loses conception of time to

  114. My 2 year old Sonshine LOVES to be outdoors and this would be perfect! Looks sturdy and like the kids would enjoy for years to come!

  115. Oh my! There are so many great things Step2 has that I would love to own. Oneone the coasters would be lots of fun but we also NEED one of the table and chair sets 🙂

  116. I enjoyed the thorough and unbiased review. I am impressed by the sturdiness built into the set, but it is Step2. The playhouse seems to have a ton of different amenities for children! My son and our little neighborhood buddies would enjoy. I also liked the time it took to assemble. I would have been at a 3-4 (+) estimate! Glad to hear this was not the case

  117. I love this. I actually didn’t even think of looking for something like this for my older two. And the baby can grow into it

  118. I really liked the review you did o this. I enjoyed the pictures you took to show us how simple this is to put together. I loved that you explained the sizes and ages it would work for too. I have small children and I would love to have this in our backyard for them to use.

  119. Most kids playhouses are fine for 2 or 3 children, this one looks like it’ll hold 5-6 comfortably. Great for boys and girls, which is great to reduce sibling bickering over who gets to play first!

  120. Wow this looks amazing! We have several smaller step 2 pieces and have been impressed with their quality and durability year to year. I can see my 1 and 3 year old being entertained for hours over the years to come. Must stock deal sites.

  121. I love Step 2 toys!! They are durable & the kids have so much fun with/on/around them!!
Thanks for the pictures! I did not know there was more to do on the inside of the playhouse. I saw a sink &
oven, etc. The kids look like they are having a blast going down the slide & in the playhouse!

  122. This looks so nice! It’s good to see it with size comparison. The kitchenette inside is really cool. My son is almost 3 and I think he’d love the inside and the slide.

  123. I love the combination between imaginative and physical play. And we love the magic tree house around here, how cool for your kids to have that connection!

  124. I love the neutral colors of the playhouse. This looks fun for many ages! My kids would love having something like this!

  125. This looks amazing. It seems every aspect has been covered and it offers multiple kids hours and hours of play with enough options to go around.

  126. Thank you for your honest review! There is always something in a product that isn’t quite right and is a struggle to assemble. It is good to know where it is. Lol Also, the ladder entrance to the second floor, I was wondering the same thing about the kids falling back through it and you answered that too! I also have my hands happy and full but with them a little more stretched out at 3yr to 2 years apart. My younger two would love this and my 2nd and 3rd would turn it into their fort and hide out while playing nerf guns with their friends. 12 (almost 13), 9 (almost 10) 7.5, 4, and 22 months, all boys. Enjoy it all because time sure does fly while we are having fun in our hands are full, sleep deprived world we live in now, that changes all too soon to grown kids! Eek!

  127. My son is autistic, i love how sturdy it looks, and safe. Something that all five kids could play on and I wouldn’t be worried for them

  128. My grandkids would love this. The oldest boy is Eli. He’ll be three in a couple more months. His little brother is still a infant but he would grow into it. I can’t imagine any child, boy or girl, not adoring this playset. It will have years of use and will certainly be the cause behind many a happy giggle

  129. The Step2 Playsets are all so great for toddlers and youngsters! Would love to see this in our yard! Love your idea of creating a mulch yard for the playset for safety.

  130. That looks like so much fun! I especially love the little kitchenette inside. I have 3 little girls and they would absolutely adore this play set just like your cuties! I am certainly going to enter to win one!

  131. Loved your review! We have a grandson who will be 3 in just two days. Thia would be perfect for him. Her loves top climb!

  132. Wow I love how easy this looks to put together! And it’s so big!!!! I’d love for my son to have this in the back yard 🙂

  133. I love the multipurpose/ multiplay concept. The idea of the kichenette downstairs is great! My two would love it….and of course the slides.

  134. Wow, I didnt quite comprehend the scope of how big this thing was until I saw the pics. I’d love to get this for my little group of minions 🙂

  135. Your blog is really well done, I hope I can improve to a site with a quality like this! I really liked all of the pictures you posted of the play house and slide by Step 2. Would be so amazing to get something like this for my sensory seeking son! Thanks for sharing!

  136. This looks so neat! I have a five year old too and we’ve been considering a swing set or playground, but this looks really neat…especially for that price!

  137. Great review. Looks like a lot of fun. I know 4 of my 5 kiddos would love this. I bet my 13 year old probably would too. ?

  138. I think this is adorable, I love that it’s two stories. My little one loves to climb she would be all over this house.

  139. Love this house, especially the second story with slide, great for both boys and girls too. Would be perfect for my 4 year old! Would be nice if it had an external ladder to access the second story for those at the top end of the age range so they don’t have to duck into the house. Beautiful house!

  140. Thanks for giving us the good, bad, and the ugly as far as assembly! This looks like a great little house for kids. I bet my boys would love it.

  141. I love the colors and design of this playhouse. And that it is compact we don’t have much yard now that we moved stateside and are in military housing.

  142. I really would love to own one of these for my daughter and youngest son. I just don’t know how they’d hold up in our cold Massachusetts winters and with snow all over them.

  143. Thanks for your thorough review – esp of the potential safety issues. This would be great for my 2 littlest, now that we have an actual yard to put it in!!

  144. Looking into this product I was concerned about safety for a younger child. Thanks for covering the safety features and precautions you put in place.

  145. This is the cutest playset that I have seen! I love that you guys timed yourselves!!!! It sounds like me and my husband. I use overestimate and he by far underestimates his time. Lol! We could definitely put this together if it only takes an hour. 😉

  146. Love all of the detailed pictures! Also a huge fan that this has a real play stove inside and not just decorated walls like so many others I’ve seen

  147. I love the indoor cook area! How fun to grill outside right next to your kids, and they can now help with the cooking too! And how fun to have a functioning doorbell. This is the real deal! The extra long slide is sure to be a hit too. Don’t you wish our homes had those instead of stairs? 😉

  148. I love how the pieces just lock together. I’ve never encountered a Step2 product that I didn’t love (my daughter included!). She would have so much fun with the fort!

  149. My kids would love, love, love this. Thanks for such a thorough review! It’s a bit pricey but looks like so much fun .

  150. Wow! This sounds awesome. I also love putting things together so happy to hear I could do it myself. I’m not surprised to hear the sturdiness is great- we love step 2 products and love that they apply to a wide age of kids 🙂

  151. Thank you so much for all the details. The ages of the kids and pictures of them on it really help get an idea of the size and age levels.

I can’t stand it when you finally think you will have a chance to prove how right you are it isn’t the same in THAT instance. 😉

  152. Love your review. All the pictures are fantastic. Really gives a show of all the features. I also like that you timed it because I really like knowing how long it takes to do stuff because I hate preparing to do something and not getting finished before I have to leave! Thanks for such a detailed review. Looks like a fun playhouse!

  153. This is obviously designed for kids older than my 1-year-old and 2-year-old, but we’d love to have this for them when they get a bit older. Thanks for the detailed explanation and for you over the more unsafe aspects.

  154. My son had been asking for a soccer goal so that is at the top of the StepTwo wish list!
I also love the walk in play kitchen, I would love to buy that for the toddler room at our church!!!

  155. My kids have outgrown their last step two playhouse and would love one like this. Great review of the product! Can’t wait till this one comes to Canada.

  156. I have seven kids, four of them are between 3-8.three yr old twin girls,a four yr old girl,a girl who will be 8 Nov.28 th,This would please them immensely! :-)Thanks for the tip about the hole in floor and the two walls, good to know in case I get blessed!

  157. she is so lucky to review this item I’d die for this item for my kids to have. thanks Heather for the awesome review

  158. Great review!
I love that you had minimal issues getting it up. Your review just helped me decide what books my daughter will be getting this year. The magic tree house series. She loves reading books and I hope it will influenced her imagination during play time especially if we win this! Glad your kiddos are enjoying there time with yours.

  159. Great photos of this process! I definitely wouldn’t tackle this project myself. I’d drag my husband along for this ride. Love step two products. I’ve got two girls of my own who would loose their minds over this!

  160. Looks like so much fun. My 5 kids have wanted a playhouse since we moved into the new house. I think they would love this!

  161. I think it is neat that this has a kitchen in it! I also think it looks very sturdy and could up to my very rambunctous son!

  162. Looks like a playhouse that will keep my son busy for hours and with your breakdown on how to assemble it, it looks doable.

  163. My daughter would love this. I really like it. My daughter will 3 on thanksgiving.and I watch my nieces they would love it to when they come over.

  164. I love this honest review and warning about the falling hazard. That being said, I know my 3 1/2 year old would have a BLAST with this playhouse!

  165. Glad that you mentioned it takes more than one person to assemble and that it takes some muscle. Even happier that is assembles so quickly! That is a plus! Thanks for the wonderful review and the awesome pictures.

  166. I would love to win, two story I have never seen two story before! The slide looks fun because it’s higher. Step 2 knocks it out of the park again

  167. This play house definitely looks very sturdy, I love the medal support bar below the floor! My kids would have a blast playing on this.

  168. Thanks for sharing the great pictures of the kids playing. This helped me see the sizes of the various age ranges in the play set. Very thorough and appreciated the details about structure and size.

  169. This is pretty awesome and I think my daughter would have a blast with this. I like the variety of stuff she can do with the playhouse.

  170. The 1hr and 2min assembly time is so appealing. Hahaha. But it really is. I LOVE that it has metal to support it & it’s not made entirely from plastic!

  171. I would love to become a tester if possible . I read that you do not have to be a blogger but I am a mother of 3 and youngest is 3 years old. We enjoy your toys as our backyard is a playground of them:) I recently lost my job of 9 years and can not afford to update and get newer products as I would like. Please email me back and my family would greatly enjoy the experience if excepted . Thank you
